Nimbus Mountain: Situated beside Mt. Cumulus in the Never Summer Mountains, it is one of several mountains in the Never Summer range named for cloud forms in 1914 by James Grafton Rogers of the Colorado Geographic Board. Nimbus clouds are a gray cover of clouds that expands across the entire sky, filled with rain. The mythological gods were often surrounded by a nimbus vapor.
The summit of this peak (12,706') helps define the western most boundary of the Park and a loop back of the Continental Divide. The watershed from its east side is captured by the Grand Ditch, dug along its flank to capture the water from the mountains and divert it from the Colorado River to the eastern plains.#
